Mary Etna
Walsh Mcnair
Feb 14, 1935 — Nov 28, 2020
The world lost one of the most memorable and generous souls, Saturday, November 28, 2020, with the passing of Mary Etna Walsh McNair of New Braunfels, Texas.
Mary was born February 14, 1935, to Jack and Etna Walsh, in Corpus Christi, Texas. After graduating from Miller High School in Corpus Christ, she attended Baylor University where she met her future husband, David. After marriage and being stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California, they returned to Corpus Christi. After retirement they moved to New Braunfels.
She taught third grade at Tuloso-Midway Elementary School and later taught reading and helped establish the school library in the London Independent School District. She then served in the counseling and placement department of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. All the while she was a devoted mother and wife.
Mary loved meeting people and made friends wherever she went. She made new friends easily and stayed in close contact with her old friends. Her inherent positive attitude and ability to see the funny side of life was contagious.
Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, David, daughter Mary Lynn Church and husband Joe, daughter, Cheryl McNair, and her niece Etna Neighbour and husband Randall.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum in San Antonio, Texas, with Randall Neighbour officiating.
