Maxine Bitzkie Janicek, of Victoria, Texas passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024. She was 84 years old. Maxine was the youngest of three daughters, and born on October 6, 1940 to the late George and Pauline (Kuentz) Bitzkie in San Antonio, Texas. Maxine is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary L. Janicek, her son, Scott D. Wagner, her parents, and her sisters, Elvira B. Amason (Charles) and Dorothy (Dot) B. Kennedy (James).

Maxine is survived by her son, Shannon Dean Wagner and wife Katy, of New Braunfels, her three granddaughters whom she loved dearly, Lauren Jewell, Ellen Wagner, and Allison Wagner, and her "first loves"- her nieces and nephews.

Maxine grew up in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954. Maxine made an impact on so many people with her joyful presence, her quirky humor, and her brilliant red hair. She married the love of her life, Gary L Janicek, June 14, 1980, and they were married for 41 years until his passing. In Maxine's free time, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and was known for the matching outfits she sewed for her sons and granddaughters. Maxine also loved to travel. She and Gary traveled to over 40 states, Canada, and Mexico, much of that travel on motorcycle!  Maxine loved spending quality time with family  and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Duells for loving Maxine and Gary like your own. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Oak Tree Assisted Living, who cared so compassionaly for Maxine during her time there.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 2 PM at River City Church in New Braunfels, TX. There will be a reception immediately following the service, and we invite everyone to stay to help celebrate and remember Maxine's life.
