Melvin Dorrow Jr. born on December 19, 1943 of New Braunfels, Texas went home to be with the Lord December 19, 2024 on his 81st birthday.

Melvin was born in Brownwood, Texas, to Melvin Dorrow Sr. and Mary Lou Dorrow Humber.  Melvin attended High School at Highland in San Antonio, Texas and Boerne High in Boerne, Texas where he grew up along-side his younger brother Jimmy Wesley Dorrow.  The family lived on a beautiful ranch in Boerne where they raised cattle and sheep which served as the basis for Melvin's life works and passions.  Melvin was a stand-out catcher on the Babe Ruth baseball team known for his bat being a prolific hitter.

After High School, Melvin went to work at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio as a civilian welder supporting the Army maintenance efforts.  He later joined the Army in 1968 where he honorably served in the 647th Maintenance 4th US Army in Fort Hood, Texas and he continued his work as a specialized welder for the Army during Vietnam.

After Melvin's enlisted military service, he continued working as a military civilian contractor supporting US aircraft, helicopter, and radiator maintenance efforts from Vietnam through military conflicts in the Middle East.

Melvin met the love of his life in 1971 at a Methodist church group named Parents without Partners.  Melvin had three children and Janice Merle Dorrow (Simmons) had four children.  Melvin and Janice were married in May 1972 and added one more to their already sizeable family the next year.  Melvin's family was his life where he dedicated his time and efforts to home building and fixing.

Melvin is survived by wife Janice, brother Jimmy, children Randal, Doug, June, Dennis, William, Kandy, Randy, and Jeffery along with 35 great and grandchildren.

Services for Melvin Dorrow will be on Monday December 23rd, 2024 with a grave side service at Hill Country Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 11700 State Hwy 46 W, New Braunfels, TX 78132 visitation from 1PM to 2PM and services thereafter.  There will be a come-and-go gathering after services at Krause's Biergarten in downtown New Braunfels beginning at approximately 4PM.
