Jensen
May 27, 1942 — Feb 24, 2024
Michael Joseph Jensen, 81, of Spring Branch, Texas passed away on February 24, 2024 in Spring Branch. He was born May 27, 1942, in San Antonio, to John and Florence Jensen.
Michael grew up in San Antonio, graduated from Breckenridge High School and joined the SA fire department before enlisting in the United States Army in 1964. He studied Swahili at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey California and became a member of the 5th Special Forces Group before serving in Vietnam from September 1966 to December 1967. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with valor for his service. Michael returned to San Antonio and continued to work for the San Antonio Fire Department. It was then that he met his wife Deborah and they had their only child Amber in June of 1982. Michael retired from the SAFD in 1995 as a lieutenant after 33 years with the department. He enjoyed hunting, but bass fishing was his favorite pastime, and his big catches made the newspaper on more than one occasion. Michael was a great storyteller. He and his grandson JJ always made each other smile. He was a sweet husband, father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Deborah, daughter Amber Mokry and her husband Jacob of San Antonio, grandson Jensen Jacob Mokry, and older brother, Terrence Jensen of Dallas, Texas.
A committal service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
