It is with great sorrow we share the news of the passing of Michael Scott Laurie, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Realtor and longtime resident of San Antonio Texas.

Michael passed in his home on the afternoon of February 13, 2021, at the age of 63. His wife of 38 years Kathy was at his side at the time of his death. Mike as everyone knew him was born on October 7, 1957 in Waukegan, Illinois.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Herman S. Laurie; mother, Joanne R. Laurie and sister, Roseanna Griffin.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Tiffany Castillo; son, Sean Shaffer; grandchildren, Victoria Castillo, Mathew Castillo, and Jennifer Castillo; four great-grandchildren, Lilliana, Julian, Sofia and Scarlett; brother, John Laurie and also sisters, Billie West and Laurel Laurie.

Mike spent 3 years in the Air Force, where He became a FAA Certified Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic and Crew Chief, in charge of 200 men and women.  He loved everything about airplanes and flying. After the Air Force, he worked for 10 years at LeerSeigler in San Antonio, working on aircraft for the military, before returning to his family roots in Real Estate. His parents and brother were all Brokers in Phoenix, and he had worked with them prior to moving to San Antonio in 1984. Mike was a devoted Real Estate Professional for 28 years in San Antonio, Texas and 3 years in Phoenix Arizona.  His Designations include (ABR) Accredited Buyers Representative, (CNE) Certified Negotiation Expert,(GRI) Graduate of Real Estate Institute, (LHS) Luxury Home Specialist, (MRP) Military Relocation Expert.

Mike's greatest attributes are: Decency, Honor, Dignity, Duty, Respect, Loyalty, Compassion, Honesty, Intelligence, Courage, Knowledge, Self- Discipline, Hardworking, Trustworthy, Love of Family and Love of God. These are qualities he not only held in high esteem but practiced every day during his time here on earth. He was a Serious and Disciplined man and could never resist the opportunity to have a good laugh with clients, co-workers, friends and loved ones.  Advice he gave to others is "Don't Just Give Someone a Fish, Teach Them How To Fish" and 'When Things Get tough, take Baby Steps and You'll Get Through It".

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:15 PM on April 7, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, only 25 people are allowed to attend at this time due to Covid restrictions.
