Michele Rivera
Fernandez
Mar 29, 1956 — Dec 28, 2025
Michele Rivera Fernandez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and devout Christian, went home to heaven on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Born in Rochester, New York, Michele's life was marked by love, resilience, and a faith that grew deeper with time. Her relationship with Jesus became her anchor, guiding her through life's joys and challenges with grace and quiet strength. She passed just before her 70th birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love and perseverance.
Michele had a natural love for numbers and built a career doing what she genuinely enjoyed. She began her professional journey in banking, later moved into bookkeeping, and eventually transitioned into payroll, a field she remained dedicated to until her retirement. She took pride in her work, valued precision and integrity, and approached her career with steadiness and dedication.
Her family, friends, and pets were her most treasured loves. She had a deep love for dogs and cherished the companionship of her pets throughout her life. Michele also loved movies and could often be heard joyfully quoting her favorites with those closest to her. She was a huge sports fan who loved cheering on multiple teams, and she remained a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan her entire life. She was known for her beautiful smile and her wonderfully kind heart, qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Earlier in life, Michele was married to Edward Pinkerman, and together they welcomed their daughter, Shauna, who remained her greatest pride and joy. She was a devoted and loving mother, and later found immense happiness in being "Gigi" to her treasured grandsons, Trevor and Connor Mooney.
In 2021, Michele married Douglas Fernandez, finding a beautiful and unexpected chapter of love later in life. Their marriage was a testament to God's perfect timing. Together, they built a Christ-centered life filled with joy, devotion, and companionship. Doug brought immense happiness to Michele's life over the last several years, and their shared faith was the foundation of their love.
Michele is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Fernandez; her daughter, Shauna Pinkerman Mooney; her grandsons, Trevor and Connor; her sister, Kristina Moody; her brother, James Rivera and his wife, Holly; multiple nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kilmar and Jean Rivera; her brother, Stephen Rivera; and her son-in-law, Trey Mooney.
Michele will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to Christ, and the warmth she brought into every room. Though her absence leaves a profound void, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace.
A memorial service will be held on March 28th at 1:00 PM at CT Church, 14335 O'Connor Road, San Antonio, TX 78247.
