Obituary

Naron Leon "Sonny" Fisher, age 84, went to be with the Lord January 3, 2025. Sonny was born April 26, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas to Charles Alex Fisher and Ellen Marie Coats Fisher. He grew up with his six siblings and graduated from Harlandale High School in 1958. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Oriskany. In November 1964, Sonny married Janet Ford. She brought four children into this marriage with her, and Sonny parented these children as his own until his passing. On January 2, 1982, he married the love of his life, Carol Lee Widen. They enjoyed 43 years together. He and Carol adopted many pets from animal shelters. He had a love for animals and nature. Sonny and Carol worked tirelessly in their yard at the home they built outside of New Braunfels. Sonny was an electrician by trade and a proud member of the IBEW. He and Carol traveled extensively and enjoyed many wonderful countries, cultures, and cuisines. They were both long-time members of Triumphant Lutheran Church in Garden Ridge.  Sonny had a unique sense of humor. He laughed and smiled readily and was a man that loved deeply. He was a man of great character and lived his life with respect for his fellow men, women and his country. He had a love of music that ranged from Rock to Classical and most everything in between. Watching sporting events with him was an event unto itself. His many travels allowed him to see and appreciate the beauty and majesty of the world around him. He was fascinated at the work of the Creator's hand. Many have said they've known no finer man than Sonny Fisher.  He will be missed greatly.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Carol Fisher, children Priscilla Ford (Rick), John Hickman (Donna) and Peggy Hostetler, grandchildren Rachel Smith, Julianna Pisano, Theresa Pisano, Anthony Pisano and Laura Ford, Maxwell Effertz (Shane), Austin Hickman, Carson Weiershausen, Aaron Hostetler, David Hostetler (Leigh), Jessica Warren, Naron Leon Fisher III "Trey" (Victoria), Burke Fisher (Julia) and Emily Fisher: Great grandchildren, Alora, Brylon, Olivia, Lillian, and Naron Leon Fisher IV "Quade".   He is also survived by brother, Marvin Costello, sisters Juanita Suggs, Kathryn "Kitty" Cobb and Charlotte Harper and many nieces, nephews, and cousins from both his and Carol's families.
