Obituary

Norma Jeanne Couser was born to Weldon Wayne Cox & Gertrude Elaine Johnson on July 22, 1937, in Houston, Texas.

She passed from this life on November 18, 2025, in Bulverde, Texas at the age of 88 surrounded by her loving family.

Norma Jeanne was preceded in death by her father, Weldon Wayne Cox; mother, Gertrude Elaine Finster; her husband, Charles Couser, Jr. in 2003; stepfather, Wilburn Woodrow Finster; stepdaughter, Marsha Allison Craig; stepson, Stephen Charles Couser and sister, Gayle Elaine Kaase.

She attended Bay City High School in Bay City, Texas and was a proud Blackcat Cheerleader. Norma and her husband, Charles resided on the northeast side of San Antonio. She was very active as a room mom during the time that her son, Rob was in school. Norma Jeanne also served as classroom mom for additional children in the neighborhood. As Rob was playing football and attending Judson High School, she became Team Mom. She also served as the Vice-President of the PTA/PTO and served on the Judson High School Booster Club Board.

Norma Jeanne's love language was cooking and so enjoyed family gatherings. She was a part of the opening of the first Luby's within North Star Mall in San Antonio and served as manager for 20 years. In her later years she enjoyed playing Bunco and visiting with friends at the Kirby Senior Center. After moving in with Rob & Cindi, she had extra care by Robyn, and they watched all her favorite TV Shows and completed many crossword Puzzles together.

She is survived by her son, Robert Wayne Couser (Cindi) of Bulverde; daughter, Barbara Banks of Florida; granddaughters, Lisa Dillon, and Kelly Craig Wasden; grandson, Ryan Craig; nieces, Kimberly Kaase, and Missy Bosse (Timothy); nephew, Jody Kaase (Kimberly) and special caregiver, Robyn Higgs Moeller.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Bulverde / Spring Branch Senior Center, 30280 Cougar Bend, Bulverde, Texas 78163.

A Private Family Interment will take place at a later date where she will be reunited with her beloved husband, Charles at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
