Patricia Louise Burns (nee Shonefelt) a resident of New Braunfels, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 93 years of age.

Born in Dayton, Ohio on 6-8-1927 to John Henry and Anna Lucille (Jones) Shonefelt. Pat graduated from Klein High School in Dayton. Then she attended Marietta College in Ohio. While there she began studying with another student, Robert Burns, from Detroit, Michigan.  They fell in love and after Pat and Bob graduated, they were married on 7-21-1950 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dayton. They made their home in Detroit, Michigan where both started their careers in accounting. A career move for Bob took them to Japan for four years. They embraced the culture, making new friends, learning the language, enjoying the foods and customs. They returned to make their home in Texas, living in San Antonio and then building their dream home at Canyon Lake.

Upon Bob's retirement, they traveled extensively every year throughout Europe, spending the winter months planning the details of their adventures. They embedded themselves in the culture of the country they were visiting, learning the language, and staying in private homes rather than the typical tourist accommodations.

Predeceased by her parents, beloved Bob in 1991 and sister-in-law, Beverly Good, she is survived by her niece, Karen (Good) Smith (Tom), two great-nephews, her god-children, and many friends in San Antonio, Canyon Lake and New Braunfels. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Pat spent her final years at the Eden Hill Community in New Braunfels where she made new friends and enjoyed the activities Eden Hill offered. She was comforted and cared for by Accountable Aging, AA Senior Care and Caring Senior Service of New Braunfels. We especially thank all her faithful and loving caregivers.

Pat sought comfort in her Bible and particularly the 23 ^rd Psalm in the King James Version. She had a favorite poem by Henry Scott Holland. "Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room...Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?"

Her faith was strong. She was a long-time member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church at Canyon Lake where she served in a variety of ways. A Celebration of her Life will be held at St. Andrew at a later date and Pat's ashes will be interred in the Columbarium there.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Canyon Lake.
