Oct 23, 1942 — May 25, 2026
Visitation and funeral mass dates and times have been updated and are below this obituary.
Patricia Townsend, 83 of New Braunfels, TX, passed away peacefully on May 25th 2026.
She was born Oct 23rd, 1942 in New Ulm, MN to Ted and Ann Smith. Her father was killed on June 14th, 1944 in the invasion of Normandy and is buried in France.
Pat became a military wife on Jan 5th, 1963 and enjoyed the experience of travel especially the 4 years spent in England. Pat volunteered with Family Services, helping young families with food, clothing and other items. Pat was honored on numerous occasions for her contribution to Family Services.
Pat began a career in healthcare insurance industry. She finally retired in 2012 after 30+ years in the business.
When not working Pat enjoyed gardening and traveling. We enjoyed a voyage to Alaska, followed by a trip to the Holy Land where we renewed our vows at Cana on our 50th anniversary. Her real passion; however, was shopping. Some of her nephews and nieces gave her the nickname "Ms. Spiegel" owing to the fact that she ordered a great number of items from a catalog named Spiegel.
Pat is survived by her loving husband Ralph, daughter Kelli Brooks, her husband Timothy, grandchildren Cameron (Watson), Coby, Cason and Carys. Also, her great-granddaughter Daisy. Her siblings Tom Westlund, Larry Westlund and Debbie McCormack. She was preceded in death her father, step father, her mother and two siblings Karen Larson, and Michael Westlund.
