She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Houston L. Johnson and Ethel B. McGahay. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Cross of Bakersfield, California.

On July 18, 1948, Patsy married the love of her life, Roy E. Thomas of San Antonio. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two sons.

Patsy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy E. Thomas, and her son, Ralph E. Thomas.

She is survived by her son, Robert Thomas and Patricia; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her loving nieces Cathy Wind, Colleen Gruetzner, Carolyn Walker, Connie Thomas, and their families, as well as her niece and nephews.

Patsy and Roy were longtime members of First Baptist Church in New Braunfels, where they were deeply involved in church life and community organizations. They shared a passion for travel and created many lasting memories together.

Patsy was proud of her nursing career. She attended Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas, from 1986 to 1988, earning her Registered Nurse degree. On her very first day of class, she met Kandice Williams Pryor, beginning a friendship that lasted over 40 years. Patsy worked in dialysis in Paris, Texas, before later moving to New Braunfels, where she served as both a school nurse and a hospice nurse with Hope Hospice, compassionately caring for others.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Eden Hill Chapel, 631 Lakeview Avenue, New Braunfels, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patsy's memory to the Hope Hospice Center in New Braunfels.
