Petra D. Rodriguez, 95, of New Braunfels, Texas, passed away on August 12, 2024, in New Braunfels.  She was born on October 23,1928 in Georgetown, Texas to Santiago and Maria (Santos) Diaz.

She was a good mother who knew how to sew.  She was also a great cook and baker, made the best tamales and could whip up a meal in a jiffy. She was blessed with a green thumb and always had the most beautiful flowers and plants.  She was 95 years old and lived a good life.  She spoke fluent German and encouraged her children to take German in school.  She worked hard all her life and instilled that work ethic in her children. She will be dearly missed.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Mary Esther, and great granddaughter Dezerey Rodriguez and Petra's husband Juan D. Rodriguez.

She is survived by her children; Juan R. Rodriguez, Jr. (Arcelia), Mary Helen Espinoza, Stella Jimenez, Virginia Jung (Steve), and Martin Rodriguez, grandchildren; Christopher Kautz, Betty Coggin, Adrian Dominguez, Stephanie Goedecke, Joanne Cruz, Alysia Velasquez, Melissa Leos, Jimmy Olson, Casey Olson, Vincent Rodriguez, Garrett Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez, and numerous great grandchildren.

A Rosary service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 7:00 PM at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM prior to service.  A Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels.   Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in New Braunfels.
