Ray was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 11, 2021 at the age of 88 years in New Braunfels, Texas.  He was born to Henry L. and Gertrude E. (Bailie) Bruntmyer on October 6, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa, the youngest of six children.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and in a tragic accident, his first wife, Ruth (Falk) Bruntmyer and three children, Pamela, Cheryl & Craig.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Bucknell, Lloyd Bruntmyer, Harry Bruntmyer, Millie Grumling and Wayne Bruntmyer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kay Bruntmyer of New Braunfels; sons, Hans Christian Bruntmyer & wife, Tichelle of Spring Branch and Eric Ivan Bruntmyer & wife, Elise of Abilene; grandchildren, Kai Bruntmyer, Noah Bruntmyer, Avery Bruntmyer, Shea Bruntmyer, Halle Bruntmyer, Heidi Bruntmyer and Logan Bruntmyer & wife, Priscilla and numerous nieces, nephews, additional other relatives, and dear friends.

He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 1965. Ray retired from the U.S. Air Force as a civilian employee in 1995. His interests were woodworking, making toys to donate, repairing broken items for others, and ancestry. Although he was not successful, he was very active in the pursuit of trying to get his brother Lloyd's remains from the Philippines back to the United States.

Ray served in the U.S. Navy for four years of which he was proud to have served his country.

Ray was a devoted son, brother, husband, Dad, and Grandpa.  We will miss him.

Burial will take place, with military honors, at 9:15 AM on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Dallas Fort-Worth National Veterans Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
