Robert George Franke, 78, of Canyon Lake, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2026.

Born on June 23, 1948, in Madison, Wisconsin, Robert was the son of Walter and Florence Franke. He grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1966. He continued his education at the Wisconsin School of Electronic Engineering Technology, graduating in 1968.

In 1969, Robert moved to Texas to begin his career with Texas Instruments. Following his work at TI he continued his career with Motorola Memory Systems and UT Sonar System Division at the Applied Research Lab. In 2001, he and his wife Linda moved to Ft. Davis to continue working for UT at the McDonald Observatory, retiring in 2007.

Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Franke; his daughters, Jennifer Dugas (Scott) and Heather Franke; and his cherished grandchildren, Austin and Alayna Dees. He is also survived by his brother, James Franke (Lila Walters); his sister, Julie Lukosaitis; and extended family members Mary Fischer, Nancy Naseef, and Ray Fischer (Janet) along with countless loving nieces, nephews, cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Florence Franke.

His interests were riding motorcycles, woodworking, and hunting. He was Texas project coordinator for Methodist NOMADS where he participated and led many rebuilding projects. He will be remembered for his weird sense of humor and exceptional woodworking.

A celebration of life will be held at North Shore United Methodist Church in Canyon Lake, Texas at 11:00 am on July 25th.
