Mr. Ron, as he was known to many, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the age of 75.  He was born in Port Huron, MI to Arnold Ferriby and Beulah Basnaw Larson.

He was a proud Vietnam Veteran.  At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy, his senior trip was to boot camp.  He served as a boats mate on the USS Forrestal CVA-59.  After 5 days in Vietnam flammable jet fuel spilled across the flight deck, ignited, and triggered a chain reaction of explosions that killed 134 sailors and injured 161.  He was proud that he was able to fight the fire and come home.  It was traumatic.

Ron was a family man.  He loved his children, his bonus children and their children, and did all he could to provide good memories for them.  He was also a great son.  He loved his mother and after he retired, their daily phone call was his favorite part of the day.

When he was 18 Ron received an apprenticeship at the local newspaper and thus started his career in the newspaper industry.  He worked for the Port Huron Times Herald, Flint Journal, Detroit Free Press, Houston Post and the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.  He started in the mailroom as a young man and worked himself up the ladder to retire in 2011 from the Corpus Christi Caller-Times as the Vice President of Operations.

He met Elizabeth at the newspaper and they just celebrated 19 years of marriage.  Upon his retirement in 2011, they moved to Canyon Lake In 2018, he started an uphill battle against the ugly disease we know as Parkinson's.  It slowly robbed him of the life he loved.  He peacefully went to sleep one night and woke up in the arms of Jesus the next.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth King Ferriby, daughters Stephanie Campbell, Crystal Campbell, Jennifer (Sandy) Wright, Trina Ferriby and Kelly (Stan) Rupert. Brothers Richard (Judy) Ferriby and Stan Ferriby.  Grandchildren Andrea (Joshua) White, Nick Ferriby, Kayla (Justin) Peters, Jacob and Emily Rupert and Riley Cook. Great-grandchildren Aiden Lomelin and Riley White.

He was reunited in heaven with his parents, his brothers Robert and Arnold Ferriby, his sister Connie Tesluck and his beloved son Paul Robert Ferriby.

A celebration of life will be held fittingly, on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Cowboys for Jesus, 8400 F.M. 32, Fischer, TX 78623.

In lieu of flowers we are asking that donations be made to the church for the Bullzi Youth Ministry.
