Roxolin Marie Bose Krueger, age 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28th.  Roxolin was friendly, energetic, and loved to be with people. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends in New Braunfels, the community she loved and served so well.

Roxolin was born to Roland B. Bose and Melba Posey Bose on March 5th, 1932 in New Braunfels, Texas.  She had one brother, Robert B. Bose and one sister, Melba Darlene Bose Anson, both deceased. At the age of 4, Roxolin's mother died and the three children were raised by their maternal grandmother, Olinska Sippel Posey at 570 S. Seguin Street in New Braunfels.

Roxolin attended Carl Schertz Elementary and New Braunfels High School.  During her schooling, she made many friends who she treasured throughout her life.  Most notable was her high school sweetheart, Doyle Krueger who she married in 1953 following his graduation from Texas A&M. After two years in the military, Roxolin and Doyle settled in New Braunfels where they raised two children, Steven and Katherine (Kay). Once the children began school and at age 34, Roxolin enrolled in Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics and a Masters in Vocational/Technical Education.  Upon graduation, she began a 22-year teaching career at New Braunfels High School, teaching Family Living and Distributive Education.  Roxolin and Doyle enjoyed a wonderful, 56-year marriage until his death in 2008.

Roxolin loved New Braunfels and was devoted to her community.  She credited Doyle with encouraging her to be involved in local organizations beginning in the 1960's.  Together, they were devoted to making New Braunfels a great place for families and business.  Roxolin served as president of the Seely Elementary PTO.  She was a 1964 founding member and first president of the Republican Women of Comal County.  In 1972, she earned her Chamber Blue Coat and in 1979 became president of the Chamber and the first woman Chair of the Board.  She served as 1986 president of the Texas Junior Miss Board, the 1994 president of the Comal County Unit of the American Cancer Society and was involved with Senior Citizens of Comal County, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Development Council of McKenna Legacy Foundation.

She was passionate about preserving the history and traditions of New Braunfels.  Roxolin served on boards for the Sophienburg Museum and Archives, the Museum of Handmade Furniture, the Conservation Society, the Comal County Historical Commission and the Braunfels Foundation Trust.  She was a Founding Member and Co-Chair of the first Wurstfest Heritage Exhibit, Founding President of New Braunfels Heritage Society, on the New Braunfels 175 Celebration committee and a co-hostess for the Reflections radio program.

It was her great joy serve the community she so dearly loved and she was honored with the 1972 Chamber Presidents Award, 1985 Besserung Award, 1988 Hall of Honor Award, a 1993 Silver Unicorn, a 2003 Sophienburg Museum Star Award, as a 2004 NBISD Distinguished Alumnus, and a 2008 Living Legend.

Roxolin valued her friendships and loved participating in social clubs. She was a member of the Gay Forties from 1963 until 2023, was active in the Soiree Social Club, Allegro Dance Club, and several bridge clubs.

Roxolin co-authored two books, Dearest Bert and Oma, Tell Me About Olden Times in Gruene, Texas.   She presented book reviews on these and other books to Elderhostel Tours, at the NB Public Library, the Senior Citizen Center and local nursing homes.

Devoted to her faith, Roxolin was a life-long member of First Protestant Church where she was confirmed in 1946, married in 1953, served on the Church Council, as a Sunday School Teacher and on many committees.

Roxolin is survived by her children, Steve Krueger (Roger) and Kay Krueger Stripling (Kyle).  Also, six grandchildren, Lucas Grape-Krueger, Will Stripling, Mike Stripling, Ben Stripling, Sarah Stripling Beshear (Zach), and Andrew Stripling (Madison); two half-brothers, Larry Bose and Ronnie Bose; and 12 nieces and nephews.  She is proceeded in death by her husband Doyle, parents Roland and Melba Bose, grandmother Olinska Posey, aunt Roberta Posey Mueller, brother Robert Bose and sister Melba Darlene Anson.

A Memorial Service will be held at on Monday, July 8 at 1:30 p.m. at First Protestant Church-New Braunfels with Rev. Andrew Keuer officiating.  A reception will follow in Schumann Hall.  Memorial donations may be given to First Protestant Church-Building Maintenance Fund.
