Obituary

Roy L. Mills (75) passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, in Canyon Lake, Texas. He was born to Royce and Gladys Mills in Kansas in 1948.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, R.L. Mills.

Roy is survived by his wife, Betsy McLeod Mills of Canyon Lake; children, Ryan Mills (Miranda), Rebecca Mills (J.R. Hooper) and Daniel Mills (Jessica); siblings, Douglas Mills (Sandy), James Mills (Venus) and Jacque Mills Dickinson (Billy); stepchildren, Heather King (Ian) and Michael Atkins, Jr. (Amy); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, additional relatives, and friends.

Roy was an Air Force brat and lived all over the United States as the eldest son of a pilot. He graduated from Irwin High School in El Paso in the 1960s and briefly attended UT Austin before moving to Florida where he spent many years in the construction trade and where Ryan and Rebecca were born. While there, he enjoyed surfing and snorkeling.

After moving back to San Antonio, his son Daniel was born and he continued work in construction until Trinity Baptist Church hired him to work in the maintenance department, where he stayed for 19 years before retiring. While there, he was active in the Choir, even singing in the "Living Christmas Tree" program and was baptized by Pastor Buckner Fanning.

He moved to New Braunfels where he was active in the Oakwood Baptist Church Choir for many years.

Finally, he moved to Canyon Lake, Texas.

Roy was an endowment member of the NRA and enjoyed shooting range practice.

Roy was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group and rode with the San Antonio Chapter of HOGS and the Texas Hill Country Chapter of HOGS.

In his final years, Roy enjoyed all things "Jeep" and his two Maltese dogs, Harpie and Springer.

He was loved and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in Canyon Lake, Texas, 1071 FM 2673, Canyon Lake/Sattler, Texas 78132
