Roy Gene Rogers, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2024, age 75, in New Braunfels, Texas. His bright smile, infectious laugh, and deep Texas drawl will be missed by many.

Roy was born in Snyder, Texas, on May 22, 1948 to Frances Foree and Willie W. Rogers.

Growing up in Snyder, Roy was passionate about baseball, and made lifelong friends through his baseball teammates and extracurricular activities.

After graduating from Snyder High School, Roy attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State), and graduated in 1970 with a Geography degree and a minor in math. He was a member and officer of Lambda Chi fraternity. While at the University, he was involved in academic and social activities, and was honored as a Gaillardian.

Throughout the years following graduation he celebrated several reunions with his fraternity brothers. College is where Roy met his sweetheart, Suzanne Hovey, and they married on August 23,1969. They welcomed their daughter, Danna, in 1970 and their son, Ryan, in 1976.

Upon graduating from college Roy began his career at Southwestern Bell (AT&T) working through the executive leadership program. He led multiple teams and supervised many employees. Roy successfully navigated the management program, and retired as the Executive Director of Labor Relations for AT&T. Roy was part of several business leadership organizations.

As his career grew, he moved all over Texas and lived for a time in St. Louis, Missouri. He finally retired in New Braunfels, Texas. Roy was an active member of the New Braunfels community and was involved in Downtown Rotary where he served in many areas including president. For most of his years in New Braunfels, Roy was involved in the Wurstfest Association, and numerous organizations supporting New Braunfels businesses and schools.

Roy loved to celebrate life with Suzanne and their friends, including traveling, enjoying special occasions, casual gatherings, playing golf, Casinos visits, a game of pool, bird hunting, Nine Pin bowling, and those famous trivia nights; he always looked forward to time with his poker groups. Roy was passionate about golf; playing in beautiful destinations with his son, grandsons, family and friends. One of his biggest highlights was having the opportunity to play St. Andrews twice.

Roy was a huge part of his children's lives as they grew up in Abilene and in New Braunfels. He coached Danna and Ryan's athletic events, attended school plays, fundraisers, carnivals, horse events, and out of town soccer tournaments. Whenever Danna and Ryan needed him, Roy was there giving his full support. His four grandsons, Luke, Cole, Vaughn, and Burke, were the light of his life and filled him with pride and immense joy.  Roy enjoyed their church & school activities, sporting events, visiting Auburn and Texas A&M, and most of all, spending family vacations together — everywhere from the beach to the mountains.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frances and Willie Rogers, his sister, Dixie Rogers, and nephew, Larry Rogers. Roy is survived by his wife, Suzanne Rogers, his daughter, Danna Rogers Dunn, his son, Ryan Rogers; grandsons Luke Dunn, Cole Dunn, Vaughn Rogers, and Burke Rogers. Roy is also survived by his brother Willie Don Rogers, wife Shirley, nephews Tavis Rogers and Tally Rogers, niece Tammy Rogers, and nephew Cory Rogers.
