Ruby Avaneil Rutledge, 99, of New Braunfels, Texas, previously of Houston, Texas, and LaGrange, Texas, passed from physical suffering into a Blessed sleep in Jesus in the early morning of January 9 ^th , 2021, at the age of 99 years, 5 months and 2 days.  Avaneil was born in Ennis, Texas on September 7, 1921 to J.W. McConico and the former Ruby Phelps Treadaway.  She grew up in Alma, Texas with three brothers and a sister.

Avaneil was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley William Rutledge Sr., her oldest son, Charles McConico Rutledge, her parents, J.W. and Ruby McConico; by three brothers, Charles Woodfin Treadaway, James H. Treadaway, Alan Treadaway, and sister Jimmie Ruth Roberts.

She is survived by daughter, Sherry Ruth Gilbert and husband Robert Gilbert, by her son, Dudley William Rutledge, Jr., and wife Kathleen Shelby Rutledge, by four grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service for the family will be held on January 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips and Lucky Funeral Home in Giddings, Texas.
