Jeanette Payne, a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, passed away on January 23, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas. Born in Freeport, Texas, she was raised in nearby Lake Jackson. In 1976, she married Larry Payne, her husband of over 48 years. Together, they had three sons: Keith, Jason, and Jeffrey. Jeanette was an extraordinarily kind and nurturing mother who blessed her children with unwavering love and care.

While raising her boys, Jeanette worked part-time as a preschool teacher for 20 years, cherishing every one of her students. Later, she retired from teaching to dedicate herself to caring full-time for her eldest son, Keith, who had a physical disability. Jeanette was determined to provide him with the best care and quality of life possible, remaining steadfast in that mission until his passing in 2020.

As a boy mom, Jeanette was thrilled to welcome daughters-in-law to the mix and loved spending girl time with Alyssa and Alejandra. As grandchildren came along, it was apparent that she was made to be a grandmother, just as she was a mom. Affectionately known as "Nana," Jeanette brought the same boundless love and devotion to her four grandchildren, Arabella, Jackson, Everett and Camila.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, solving crossword puzzles, doing Bible studies with friends, biking or walking to the river, loving on her dogs and grand-dogs, and keeping a watchful eye on Larry as he worked on the yard in the Texas heat.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her son Keith Payne; her parents, Jim and Jean Bell; her brother, Larry Bell; and her niece, Elizabeth Chen.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Payne; her sons, Jason and Jeffrey Payne and their wives Alyssa and Alejandra; her granddaughters, Arabella and Camila Payne; her grandsons, Jackson and Everett Payne; her sister, Cindy McDougal, and her husband, Randy; her brother, James Bell, and his wife, Joan; her sister-in-law, Janet Thompson; and many other extended family members and loved ones.

To know Jeanette was to love her, and all who knew her were affected by her Godly spirit of gentleness, kindness, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held to Celebrate her life at 2:00 PM (with the family receiving friends from 1:00 PM until service time) on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas.

A Private Family Burial will take place at Holland Cemetery in Holland Texas, at a later date, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved son, Keith.
