Shauna Rose
Hulecki
May 22, 1956 — Oct 29, 2026
Canyon Lake, Texas
To know her was to love her. And to be loved by her was one of life’s greatest gifts.
Shauna was a woman of extraordinary kindness, generosity, and grace. Often described as one of the sweetest people anyone had ever known, she had a gentle spirit, a compassionate heart, and a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She gave freely of herself, never expecting anything in return.
Family was always at the heart of everything she did. Whether it was her parents, siblings, husband, children, grandchildren, or the dear friends who became family along the way, she loved her people with her whole heart. She celebrated their joys, walked alongside them through life’s hardships, and made sure they always knew how deeply they were loved. To her, family was never defined by blood alone. She had a beautiful gift for making people feel like they truly belonged. Once you were hers, you were hers.
After being widowed while her children were young, she balanced working and raising her family while continuing to give generously of her time. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, helped at her children’s school, and made it a priority to attend every game, swim meet, school play, and Christmas pageant. No matter how full her days became, she always found a way to show up for the people she loved.
When she and John found each other, they began a beautiful new chapter together. John and his extended family welcomed her and her children with open arms, and what began as a blended family became a family simply bound by love. She and John shared a deep and steadfast devotion, building a life filled with faith, friendship, and laughter, even in life’s darkest moments. Throughout her illness, John remained faithfully by her side, caring for her with unwavering love. She was his sunshine, bringing warmth, joy, and light into his world.
Being “Nana” was among her greatest joys. She wasn’t content to simply watch her grandchildren play—she was right there in the middle of it all. Whether playing games on the floor, digging in the sand, climbing into treehouses, baking cupcakes with Sandie, cheering from the sidelines, or heading off on another family adventure, she gave them her time, her attention, and her whole heart. Looking back through family photographs, one thing is unmistakable—Nana was never just in the picture. She was part of the moment. She didn’t just make memories with her grandchildren; she helped make their childhoods magical.
She had a joyful spirit and a lifelong love of dancing. As a member of her high school drill team, she choreographed and performed a solo in the spring show that her classmates still fondly remember decades later. Her love of dancing was just one reflection of the joy she brought to life and the people around her.
Above all, she was a woman of deep and abiding faith. Her love for Jesus was the foundation of her life, and His light shone through the way she loved and served others. She treasured her church family, her time in Bible Study Fellowship, and opportunities to serve her community. Alongside her mother, Sandie, she volunteered at the Community Resource and Recreation Center (CRRC) in Canyon Lake, Texas, where her compassion touched not only those she served, but also those who volunteered beside her. Even through her own hardships, she never stopped thinking of others, allowing those around her to see the light of Jesus shining through her.
She loved her life, and she loved the people God placed in it. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the memories she helped create, and the love she gave so freely.
Psalm 30:11 beautifully reflects her joyful spirit: “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.”
While our hearts ache at the thought of life without her, we find comfort in knowing that she is home with her Heavenly Father. We can only imagine the rejoicing as she was welcomed into Heaven, dancing once again, free from pain, and hearing the words:
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
