Obituary

Sheila Jai Boatright was born on May 23rd,1959 in Selma, Alabama, and peacefully joined our Lord on December 29th, 2024 after an 11 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her husband, Basel Boatright of New Braunfels, her son and daughter-in-law, John Henry and Valerie Boatright and their children, Story Jai, Sadie River and Reiter James. She is also survived by her father, Don Dice, and siblings Donnie Dice, Sharon Peebles and Sandra Sankey.

Sheila was often seen reading in her Bible, or other historical book, and was a member of numerous weekly women's Bible study groups in New Braunfels through the years. She graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in 1977 and began her professional career at Valero in the 80s and early 90s. She retired from Schlitterbahn's IT Department in 2013, working alongside Basel and John Henry for many years.

If each of Sheila's friends and family members were the page of a book, then Sheila was our binding. She was a genuine friend, a focused listener and the most trusted confidante to many. Her counsel was thoughtful and constructive, always honest, and is greatly missed. We thank God for allowing us to know the most perfect woman, an amazing wife to Basel and an incredible mother to John Henry.

A public visitation will be held Monday, January 6th, 2025, from 9 to 11am at Doeppenschmidt's Funeral Home in downtown New Braunfels. A memorial service will follow there at 11am.
