Obituary

Shirley Anne Duren passed away on July 10, 2022, at her home with her family at her side. She was Born on June 4, 1931, and raised in Houston, TX. She attended and graduated from U of H. with teaching career began at the Junior High level at the Lamar School District in Richmond, Tx.  Then proceeded to the high school level.  She coached volleyball at both levels.  After 37 years of teaching and coaching she retired.  She was a survivor of breast cancer.

Upon retirement, Shirley and Josie began traveling in their RV around the country.  Their first state to visit was Colorado.  Shirley and Josie worked at many resorts throughout their travels.

Shirley enjoyed golfing, fishing, and traveling with her family and friends in the RV.  She loved her family and friends and always willing to help in any way she could.

Surviving Shirley's memory is her Life partner of 50 years, Josie M. Loria, brother, Dick Fitze and extended family, Frank Loria, Sandra and J.J. Villagran, Isaiah Villagran, Alexis Villagran, Nicole Loria and family, Garrett Loria and family, Ann and Sherry, Martha and Julyne, JoBeth and Peggy, Linda and Donna, Jenny, Kathy and Debbie, Linda and Philip, Nora and Cissy, Angela Dudley, and Benny and Fran.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 14, 2022, from 9:00 am to Service time at 11:00 am at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in Canyon Lake, Texas 78133.

Burial will follow at the Mt. Valley cemetery in Sattler, Texas.

Memorials may be given to St. Francis By the Lake Episcopal Church in Shirley's Honor.
