Messianic Jewish Rabbi Stuart L. Fabricant, 81, of Bulverde,  Texas, passed away on September 24, 2022 in his home.  He was born into an Orthodox observant family on May 13, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, to Harry and Rae (Cohen) Fabricant, and raised in a traditional Jewish neighborhood. In the course of his long life, Stuart held many jobs.  He was a volunteer firefighter in New York and he became a restaurateur, owning and operating The Big Scoop.  He worked in sales, with AAMCO Transmissions, large insurance companies, and Word Publishing Company before he found his passion and calling as a Messianic Jewish believer and later an ordained rabbi.

Stuart later moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where, at age 40, he first visited a Messianic Congregation, Temple Aron HaKoseh. This was his first exposure to the Jewish Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and within a few months, he became a Jewish believer, giving his life and his heart to the Lord in 1982.

He married his wife, Demetry (Dee) in 1982 and together they moved to Waco, Texas and started the area's first Messianic home group. They stayed in Waco for 7 years before moving to Tampa, Florida and founding a Messianic Congregation, Shoresh David, which is still flourishing today, with branches in Lakeland and Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Stuart and Dee semi-retired from "HIS Assurance", (a Godly financial practice) and Shoresh David to San Antonio in 2003 to be closer to two of his four daughters and their families.  While in San Antonio, he started yet another home fellowship and studied for his full ordination as a Messianic Jewish Rabbi from the International Association of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues. His home fellowship grew into a congregation, named Shoresh David Messianic Congregation of Texas.

Stuart, known to his many grandchildren as "Zayde," was quick with a joke and was loved by many. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Demetry: stepdaughters Raina Ethridge (Jeff), Tamara Holcomb (Samuel Glass); grandchildren James Ethridge, Lauren Ethridge, Alton Glass, Matthew Aversa, and sister, Myra Diuguid.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Zachary Leo, and many beloved uncles, aunts and other family.

The family is thankful for the support and care given to Stuart from Elara Hospice caregivers.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels.
