The world lost an amazing woman – a beloved wife, mother, and nana.

Susan was the daughter of Julia Campbell Truax and Roger F. Truax and was born in Long Beach, California. Her professional life spanned more than forty years in Civil Service.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard Perry, and her children: Patricia Perry Lazarin, Pamela Kneuper, Christopher Grant, and Shelly Cunningham. Grandchildren Blake Hernandez (Laura), Brody Cantu, Colton Fennell (Whitney), Brittney Schuepbach (Jack), and Brook Lazarin (Nate).   Great-grandchildren Sloane, Bellamy, and Carter Hernandez. She was excitedly awaiting the arrival of two more great-grandchildren: Creek Warren Fennell and Eleanor Mae Schuepbach. Sisters, Carol Smith (Larry) and Mary Ciavarella (Tony), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, her best friend, and friends.

She and Richard made the most of life together—RVing across the country for more than thirty years, guided by her meticulously planned travel itineraries.  National parks, lighthouses and Cracker Barrels were among her favorite stops along the way.  Susan enjoyed square and round dancing, crafting, playing cards, sightseeing, listening to Elvis, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on October 27 at 1:00 PM at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home (189 North Seguin Ave., New Braunfels, TX 78130), followed by a reception at McAdoo's Seafood Company (196 N. Castell Ave., New Braunfels, TX 78130).  She will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in a private graveside service.

With her fiery spirit and unwavering resolve, she left memories that will be cherished forever.
