Susan Faye Vogel, age 78 of New Braunfels, Texas passed peacefully in her sleep from complications of cancer.

Susan Faye Vogel, born Betty Pearl Stauffer, was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Marvin Hermann and Virginia Alma (Grote) Steinbring; her biological parents, Lester and Ruth Stauffer; brother, Tommy Steinbring, and additional siblings.

Susan is survived by her son, Hermann Vogel, Jr. and wife, Betsy; granddaughter Sofia; grandson Arthur; nephews Cary Steinbring and wife, Karen, Kelley Steinbring and wife Cara, and Zachary Steinbring and wife, Nory; niece, Denise Lucas Swindle.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Susan graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School, San Antonio, Texas in 1962. She attended both San Antonio College and Texas Lutheran College.

She worked for USAA from 1969 to 1975, married and had her son, then worked for the San Antonio Light Newspaper from 1983 to 1993.  She also worked for The Marielle Apartments starting in 1994.

Susan loved to read and enjoyed crafting and making cloth dolls.  She also loved family genealogy, collecting a treasure of pictures, writings, and stories.

Susan had a beautiful voice and shared her talent being a church soloist and choir singer at Shepherd King Lutheran Church. Her voice will be missed by many. She liked to help others by picking up food donations and delivering them to people who needed a little extra hope. Susan would share her love of Jesus Christ with friends and strangers.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the San Antonio Food Bank, 5200 Enrique M. Barrera Pkwy, SA, TX 78227.
