Tamara McMillian Ashley was born to Ira Dean & Norma Maxine (Cowson) McMillian on November 19th, 1949, in Houston Texas.

She passed peacefully, at home on May 17, 2024 in New Braunfels, Texas.

Tamara, or Tammy, as everyone knew her, was loved by many people, and equally loved back just as many. Her passion was dancing. Her first memories as a little girl; dancing was all she wanted to do. AND DANCE SHE DID.

Naturally, Tammy LOVED Music also. Music and Dancing. Boy, what an understatement! She made a lifelong career of it.

See, Tammy would, but rarely ever did, dance alone. In fact, Tammy danced her way through every moment of her life, both literally and metaphorically. If you spent any time with her, she would lead you into dancing with her. Even if it was only listening to music, and bobbing your head to a beat, you were dancing with her. Calling you out on your own BS, completely humbling you. You were dancing with her. Laughing at one of her many crude jokes, you guessed it, Dancing. Dancing was spiritual for her, and when she gave you her attention, you could not help but connect with her on that level. You could just feel her. Genuine, authentic, and real. I think this is why she attracted the most talented musicians, dancers, and basically, just good people. She danced all the way to the end too. I was helping her walk to the restroom a few days ago. Turned out to be, for the last time, she looked at me, and said we were dancing, and smiled. Then followed by a few choice words, regarding her condition.

Tammy had married a couple of times, earlier in her life, and "unofficially" a time or two, later in life also. I know she loved every single one of them, and for whatever reason ways were parted, they all regretted losing Tammy. She had her principles, and could only be true to herself, and she expected the same from you. She simply would not put up with any BS.

Tammy did not have children, and was the last of her family, following the death of her brother Dean Ellis McMillian, Mother Norma, and Father Ira Dean McMillian. Tammy was a Christian. There is no doubt she is now with Jesus, and her twin girls, she lost in a miscarriage years ago. She looked so forward to meeting them again in Heaven.

Tammy's Viewing will be held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm.

Funeral Services will also be held at Doeppenschmidt in New Braunfels, TX on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:00am.

Tammy will be laid to rest with her family at the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
