Dr. Thomas B. Carter, 71, tragically passed away on April 13, 2026.

Tom lived a life defined by service—to his country, his profession, and his family. He earned a Masters Degree in Microbiology and his dental degree in Baltimore, Maryland. A proud patriot, Tom was honored to serve in the United States Air Force for a total of 12 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career, he served at multiple duty stations, and carried a lifelong respect for the men and women in uniform. He completed his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then served four years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon before transitioning to private practice.

Tom practiced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for 30 years in private practice in Victoria, Texas. He was widely respected for his compassion, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail, and he cared deeply for his patients, community and staff.

Outside of his profession, Tom had a passion for cars. He spent many years drag racing in the IHRA and NHRA, earning multiple national accomplishments. He took great pride in collecting and working on vehicles. He and his wife, Trissa, shared more than 32 years of marriage and built a life grounded in love and partnership. Together, they spent many years on a horse ranch in Cuero, Texas, before building their home in New Braunfels, TX, where Tom looked forward to retirement in the beauty of the Texas Hill Country with Trissa and their beloved dogs.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Trissa Carter, and his children from his first marriage, Brandon, Derek, Chad, Kristen, and Lyndsay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jennie Carter, and his brother, Donald Carter.

Tom will be remembered as a man of character—compassionate, conscientious, and steadfast—whose life reflected a profound sense of duty, a love of country, and a genuine appreciation for family, friends, hard work, and the passions that brought him joy.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM, also in the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel, 189 N. Seguin Ave. New Braunfels, Texas 78130.

Burial, with Military Honors, will be held at 1:30 PM at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
