Thomas Finley Gillespie III was born to Edith Fern McMurtry and Thomas Finley Gillespie, Jr. on June 26, 1952, in Houston, Texas. He passed away on his 72nd birthday on June 26, 2024.

Raised in Houston, Tom earned the rank of Eagle Scout and enjoyed attending Colt 45's baseball games. He attended Trinity University in San Antonio and upon graduation, Tom began his career in the aggregate industry and affectionately earned his life-long nickname of "Tommy."

Tom was married to Lisa in 1984 and celebrated their 40th anniversary in April. Tom was an instant father figure to Melissa and Zachary. In 1986, they welcomed their daughter, Candace.

Tom loved his family wholeheartedly and will be remembered for being sharp-witted and dependable while also sharing his love of a good joke. He enjoyed being at the ball fields or sitting in his garage drinking a yellow belly while listening to classic rock or the Houston Astros on the radio.

Tom is preceded in death by his mother, Edith, father, Tommy Jr., his sister, Andrea Perron and brother-in-law, Preston Perron.

Tom is survived by his wife, Lisa, and children: Melissa Hubbard (Mark), Zachary Crocker (Jody) and Candace Gillespie (Crockett). Brother: Dexter Gillespie (Nancy). Grandchildren: Joshua (Aubrey) and Noah (Taylor) Crocker and Jillian, Charlotte and Bridget Boney. Great-grandchildren: Kayson Crocker and Aubrie & Noah II Crocker. Nieces: Valerie, Cherese and Beth. Nephew: Lee.
