Walter John Holloway, known to everyone simply as John, passed away on August 13, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on February 12, 1950, John lived a life grounded in family, hard work, service and a deep love of the land he cherished.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army for nearly eight years as a heavy equipment operator, including service in Vietnam. His time in the Army remained an important part of his life and reflected the hardworking and determined man he was.

John was happiest when ranching, working the land and tending to cattle in the beautiful Texas hill country. Being outdoors and involved in ranch work seemed to give John a sense of purpose, peace, and joy.

John is survived by his partner, Sharon Guenther; her daughter Christie Smith and Granddaughter Holly Smith along with his sons, James Holloway, Jason Holloway, Justin Holloway; and his grandchildren, Brennon Holloway, Jackson Holloway, Savanna Holloway, and Shelby Holloway. Although his absence is deeply felt, the memories, lessons, stories, and love John leaves behind will remain with everyone who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, with Bro. Rick Bartlett Officiating.
