Walter was a devoted family man, who was exceptionally well read and intelligent. Walter was thoughtful and kind, willing to help a neighbor at a moment's notice, expecting nothing in return. He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, model trains and model aircraft as well as ammunition reloading, radio operation and electronics repair.
