Walter J. Ponfick Jr. was born to Walter J. Ponfick, Sr. & Gladys (Knebel) Ponfick on March 6, 1940, in Carmine, Texas. He passed from this life at his home on April 25, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 85.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jimmy Ponfick.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Dell (Wood) Ponfick; daughter Ann Wright; son Walter W. Ponfick; son Chris Ponfick, daughter D'Layne Fleming; daughter Linsey Ponfick; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; Brother Ralph Ponfick (and wife Sally); Sister-in-law Eva Ponfick and several nieces and nephews.

Walter started his own business, Alamo Reprographics in 1976 after working for Ridgeways in Houston & National Blue Print Company in San Antonio. He enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing and playing golf occasionally. He coached his sons Little League team growing up and would umpire in between.  If he was ever "missing" all his family had to do was look outside and if he wasn't watering the grass, he was mowing it.

Walter and Sue have enjoyed a special ministry together right down to his passing. They fostered numerous children together over a span of 40 plus years. Their 5th child Linsey resulted from that privilege. She still lives with Sue at their home on Bunker St affectionately referred to as "The Cactus Patch".

Walter, Sue and Linsey are members of Oakwood Baptist Church. Walter and Sue were some of the original members and were very active with the church when they were younger. Walter loved to sing in the church choir throughout his life. The love Walter had for his family & friends will always "sing" in their hearts.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
