Wanda went on to glory on January 26, 2024 after a short bout with pneumonia. She had lived 92 long eventful and inspiring years and was loved by all who knew her and called her 'Miss Wanda". Wanda had placed her faith in Jesus Christ at age 24; loved her Lord and was a faithful witness throughout her life.

Wanda Janice Cameron was born on April 7, 1931 in Matador, Texas, to Jesse (Hub) and Lucy Cameron, the 8th of 11 children. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas, during the Depression and those hard times influenced her for the rest of her life. She was practical and level-headed and turned out to be a great leader and motivator in later years when she worked for Avon as a sales manager in Louisiana.

She met and married Therman Edsel (Ed) Wise on July 20, 1949, and they had three children: Wayne Clinton, Michael Ray, and Judy Gay. She was always proud that they "never gave her any problems" and all went on to college and successful careers. Ed and Wanda were married 61 years until Ed passed away on November 7, 2010. Wanda was the last of her siblings to pass away. She always said she didn't want to be the last, but that's how it worked out.

Wanda is survived by her three children & their spouses, four grandchildren & their spouses, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews to "Aunt Wanda". Wanda served many years with the Gideons Auxiliary and the SOS Food Bank.  She was eager to see the building plans of FBC be completed. Visitation will be held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral home Friday, February 2, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Her "Celebration of Life" will be held at First Baptist Church Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  Burial will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
