Obituary

William Kent Hamilton of New Braunfels passed away on February 6, 2024, at the age of 59. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Andrea Hamilton, and his twin sons, Noah and Andy.

He was born on September 5, 1964, in Olton, Texas to Kathryn and Tom Hamilton. He graduated from Friendship High School in Wolfforth, Texas, in 1983. He was Valedictorian of his class.

Kent was a very proud Red Raider who graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations/Marketing from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He later earned his Master of Science in Management from Texas A&M-Commerce.

All who knew Kent were witnesses to his devotion to his family, keen sense of humor, contagious joy and love of life, and his ability to connect to others sincerely and humbly, offering his help, advice, counsel, and support to anyone who asked.

Since 2016, Kent has served as an executive director at the McCoy College of Business Foundation at Texas State University in San Marcos. In 2018, he became a proud member of the college's faculty as an Adjunct Professor teaching Business Communications. One of his former students shared that he "led by example." Kent went above and beyond in producing impressive results in his fundraising work, as well as in building long-lasting relationships with those whom he worked with throughout the years.

Prior to joining Texas State, Kent spent eight years working at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio and played a critical role in supporting the fundraising programs within aging, basic sciences, and dentistry- programs that continue today to serve a critical mass of patients throughout Bexar and surrounding counties.

His professional career began in the early 90's in Lubbock as the Event Coordinator for the Children's Miracle Network Telethon at the University Medical Center and the Executive Administrator for the Texas Tech University Museum.

As a proud father, Kent was continually sharing stories of the "HamilTwins" as well as photos of their family adventures. As the son of educators, Kent prioritized his sons' education, and was proud to share the news of Noah and Andy's upcoming commencement in May 2024 from his alma mater, Texas Tech University. Wreck Em!

Kent is preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law Jerry Deavours.

In addition to his wife and sons, Kent is survived by his mother-in-law Caroline Deavours, sister-in-laws Lisa Deavours, Jennifer Jones (Aaron), nephew Brandon Jones, his dogs Ziggy, and Chuy and cat Tony all of New Braunfels.
