Zelda Lorraine Adams, 91, passed away peacefully on Feb 27, 2025 from natural causes.

Zelda was a west Texas girl - born in Anson, Texas in Jones County. She grew up on a farm and moved with her sister to Dallas graduating from high school there. While working at a bank, she applied to and garnered a prestigious American airline stewardess position. She loved flying, and that gave her a life-long taste for travel and adventure. She met Dean while visiting her sister. She and Dean were married in 1956, and they moved around during Dean's internship and residency. They were attracted to the small town community in New Braunfels and chose to come here where Dean opened his medical practice in 1962. They were avid tennis players, members at TBarM enjoying the tennis life where they made many friends. They were also active members of First United Methodist Church for over sixty years, Zelda was a member of the Gay 40's, Republican Women's, volunteered at McKenna Memorial hospital, mentored to many students, and loved traveling and entertaining. Zelda and Dean were blessed to travel to many countries after Dean's retirement, for pleasure and on medical mission trips.

Zelda loved the Lord deeply, and coveted time with her family deeply - celebrating holidays, making birthdays special, hosting summer swim parties, and attending every graduation of every grandchild. At all stages she was involved and interested in their lives. She and Dean loved to cook and entertain family and friends. A visit to their home was always filled with fun delicious food and great fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years Dr. Dean Adams, sisters Billie Boots, Dorothy Jernigan, and Gayle Lollar, and brothers John Jr. and Dale.

Zelda was a loved and honored wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She is survived by daughter Kim Adams Hookman and her husband Larry; son Brad Adams and wife Terri; grandson Nate Hookman and wife Sarah; grandson Aaron Hookman and wife Ariane; grandsons Adam Hookman, Dan Hookman, and Luke Adams; granddaughter Sarah Adams Simmons and husband Travis; great-grandchildren Miles Hookman, Devon Sowa, Gresham Sowa, John Simmons, George Simmons; brother-in-law James Lollar, sister-in-law Carrie Donaldson and husband Dave, brother-in-law Robert Adams, and several nieces, nephews, and their families. Many lifelong friends filled their lives with joy and laughter.

A funeral service to honor Zelda Lorraine Adams will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 AM.at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home. Receiving of family and friends will be 9:30-11:00. A reception will follow service at FUMC.
